The Center for International and Comparative Studies (CICS) announces a call for applications from undergraduate students at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor who are planning to work as interns during the summer of 2008. Students are eligible to apply if they have secured an internship with an organization, preferably working in the areas of one of these three themes: Human Rights, International Development, International Security and Cooperation. ELIGIBILITY - Grants of up to $4,000 will be awarded to a limited number of students. Students must have an internship assignment secured from a reputable organization. Funding can be used by the student to pay travel and living expenses. These funds are primarily intended for students working unpaid for the organization. If students are being paid, however, it is possible to receive funding to offset high expenses not covered by the organization. Applications are due on Friday, February 1, 2008. In collaboration with the University of Michigan International Institute and the University of Cape Town (UCT) International Academic Programmes Office, Telluride Association announces an international exchange opportunity for U-M students. Applications are being accepted for the Reese Miller International Exchange Scholarship which will enable one U-M student currently pursuing a full-time undergraduate or post-graduate degree (not in their final year) to attend UCT for one year of study. All university fees, travel costs, insurance, and living expenses will be paid for by the Scholarship through funds from the Telluride Association and UCT. Undergraduate Fellowship Program announces a new Undergraduate Fellows Program open to all University of Michigan undergraduates who are currently enrolled at the Ann Arbor campus who will be full time and in residence for the entire academic year of 2009-2010. The Center for Ethics in Public Life (www.ethics.umich.edu) is an interdisciplinary center dedicated to the encouragement of teaching, research and creative projects, and public discourse that promote understanding of the ethical dimensions of our lives, and especially, the lives we live in common. The Center for Ethics in Public Life is currently accepting applications for 2009-10 Fellowships. The Fellows Program provides undergraduates with the opportunity and support to develop, explore, and pursue ethics-related issues of personal and academic interest. The Center will fund six to eight fellowships for the 2009-10 academic year. Each Fellow will receive a stipend of $4000 for the year. Fellows will devote at least five hours each week to the individual projects proposed in their application to the program. In addition, Fellows will attend an orientation session in September, attend twice monthly Fellows’ meetings, and actively participate in Center activities and events. The Fellows meetings will include visiting speakers, opportunities for Fellows to report on the progress of their projects, and active participation in the planning and facilitation of Center events.Fellows Program information and application form are available at www.ethics.umich.edu/funding.
