Post-Doctoral Research Scholar

 International Programs at The University of Iowa announces a Post-Doctoral Research Scholar position in Global Health for the 2008-09 academic year, renewable for one additional academic year, subject to positive performance review.

 Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D. or other appropriate terminal degree in hand, and have received the degree no earlier than August, 2003.  A research-teaching focus on an international aspect of public health and fluent English are required.  Relevant teaching experience at the university level is highly desirable.

 The scholar will be hosted by UI International Programs, home to 16 centers and programs, and to the interdisciplinary International Studies B.A. and M.A. degrees. The scholar will work closely with the director and faculty in our Global Health Studies program (http://international.uiowa.edu/centers/global-health/), participate in the life of International Programs, including contributions to scholarly activities in the areas of global health research, and teach one course (or the equivalent) per semester for our global health and international studies programs.

 The award carries an annual stipend of $40,000 plus benefits (see http://www.uiowa.edu/hr/benefits/postdoc/), and includes access to all university facilities, the provision of a computer, and workspace. An additional annual award of $1,500 in research/travel support is provided.
